Short of having anything interesting to post, let me take this opportunity to whine about my car. Or rather, more specifically, my car's head gasket and radiator, and possibly some cooling pump as well, all of which, according to Stephens Honda, are screwed, thereby making me screwed as well. To the tune of many hundreds of dollars. Conversations with dealer service reps, no matter how friendly their demeaner, are bound to be unpleasant when they start with phrases like, "well, you're not gonna like it..." But the one I had was quite calm and pleasant indeed. I think because I was in a state of minor shock. Or maybe my perspective on it was more along the lines of "another bill? Yeah, I already got those, what's another more?" In any event, I haven't had a car payment for a couple years, and don't want to go back, so I'm replacing a head gasket (something I was advised against doing on a Ford Escort years ago -- maybe it's a better investment on a '95 Honda Civic?). I hope its the right choice.
Blah.
There are interesting things afoot, so I am tickling the maker's funny bone by planning on posting about them soon. Tonight, however, I am on my way out the door to walk over to Upland to meet the Evans and their houseguest, The Giggler [see episodes #126-132 -Ed.]. From there, Bloomington is my oyster.

True story:
I was watching an episode of The Daily Show and saw that Adam Sandler has a new movie called Click. I thought to myself, really? He made a movie version of that? Turns out, no. But back when I read Heavy Metal more regularly, I was aware of Milo Manara's Click, A Woman Under the Influence, and his drawings certainly caught my eye. I believe the premise of Click is that there's a device has the ability to immediately arouse a woman, sort of like a television remote control. I once sheepishly rented a movie based on this story (I think) when I lived alone in Broadripple, but it utterly failed to convey the same sense of, well, eroticism that these comics do. In any event, I plugged Milo Manara into Wikipedia and found a link to this YouTube video of the artist at work [link]. Maybe this is porn, I don't know, but I think the guy's got talent, and love watching him draw, especially since I would have assumed his art required lots of initial pencil sketches. Instead, he appears able to render the human form effortlessly. Anyway, I thought it was a cool video clip.

Long time, no post. Sorry 'bout that.
Happy Birthday Sean! Today's string of unrelated links is dedicated to you.

Okay, so her cover of Joe Satriani left me hankerin' for the original, but I still ended up watching the entire video of this kid's band. Never mind that I'd find this band incredibly annoying if they were all in their 20's; the smile on her face while she's playing her rock covers is infectious. [link]

It's like our own little Google Earth for Monroe County: [link]. Find your old Bloomington haunts. On the day they took the arial photos, Shari's car was in the driveway at home, mine was in the parking lot at the library (I think they took it on a Sunday).

Yes, I work at a library. Librarians are all about being tech-savy. They even started debating what it means to be "Library 2.0" on their weblogs, wikis, myspace & flickr accounts and their secondlife hangouts. A co-worker decided he wanted to delve into that world. In theory, I'm joining him. Here, at http://blogaboutlibraries.com/. I haven't contributed yet, but plan to eventually.

By the way, I'm typing this on my Mac G4, courtesy of Mr. Birthday himself. Yes, Sean hooked me up with a Mac. So far, so good. I'll have to discuss it further in future posts. Thanks Sean!

As far as I can tell, I'm the only person with a LibraryThing account who owns "How to Be a Good Bad Girl" by Angel Smith: [link]. I gotta get a cover pic posted eventually...
